Mary Squires Announces Fundraising Total
(Atlanta, GA) Mary Squires, Democratic candidate for Georgia Insurance Commissioner, filed her financial disclosure report Tuesday, announcing that to date the campaign had raised $53,092.05 from donors across the state.
"I'm humbled by the level of support our campaign has gotten," Mary Squires said. "We know this is a race a lot of voters have a hard time relating to - it's hard to see that the Insurance Commissioner is your best ally in keeping down health insurance costs and helping protect our first responders - but I'm so honored to have gotten support from such great families across the state - from places like Albany, Kingston, Baxley, and Gainesville. I'm excited about the opportunity to fight for hardworking Georgia families on issues as important as helping ensure quality, affordable health insurance for families."
Squires was elected to the Georgia General Assembly in 1998. Squires served two terms in the State House (1999-2003) and one term in the Georgia State Senate (2003-2005). In addition to her legislative experience, Squires served ten years in the Georgia Army National Guard. Mary Squires currently is the Executive Director of the Georgia Society of Professional Benefit Administrators, Inc., a self-insured health care trade association. Squires also serves as the Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Olive Industry Association, a national agriculture research and trade association. Squires currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her two teenage sons, Patrick and James.
